Thank Black Women. That phrase is deep. We are often not considered woman enough or considered not to have the “right” attitude or demeanor. However, we are women. We are fighters. We are lovers. We are professors. We are lawyers. We are mothers. We are supporters. We get sh*t done. We are bad “a double s” women! We are every woman. Let’s all women band together and not marginalize or overlook Black Women’s contributions. Black women will continue to contribute and break barriers.

"I thrive on obstacles. If I'm told that it can't be told, then I push harder." ~ Issa Rae

My race is a huge part in forming who I am, and it gave me this rich heritage that I am grateful for, but there needs to be an understanding that you cannot then put me in certain boxes, or tell me what I can and cannot do — or what my peers can and cannot do — based on these pieces of identity.” ~ Yara Shahidi

Fun fact: I was the first black female judicial law clerk in the Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of NC.

We are all capable of defining our paths and the world will be better for it. So, we are taking our “Thank you” now. Let’s work together to do the work. Until then, Black Women, push on and break barriers. Do not ever let lack of representation keep you from going after a goal. Once you are there….REPRESENT!

P.S. I am recovering from surgery, but over the course of my healing it was constantly brought to my attention through conversation or reading that Black women do not receive our dues even though we put in the work! It’s nothing new, but since I had a cool new shirt, I figured a post was obligatory. Plus, I’m never too sick or miserable for a PSA.
